NWC thanks community through Day of Service

Northwestern College will give back to the community through its Day of Service on Saturday, April 25, as students, faculty and staff work on various projects to benefit others.

“The Day of Service is a great opportunity for Northwestern to say ‘thank you’ to the Orange City community for their endless hospitality toward the college,” says 2006 alumna Brittany Caffey, AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer coordinator at Northwestern, who has worked with several students to arrange the event. “For a couple hours, each volunteer will be able to labor with love for the community that hosts them during their time at Northwestern College.”

About 70 individuals are expected to be involved in such projects as babysitting and organizing storage rooms at The Bridge transitional housing shelter, helping prepare new Hope Haven homes for residents to move in, stripping paint off of a wall at Church of the Savior, painting shelves at the Hands Around the World shop downtown, building a compost pile at American Reformed Church’s new community garden, and doing yard work for Family Crisis Center of Sioux Center.
