Northwestern to host summer theatre camp for high school students

Student performing in High school students who are interested in exploring the many roles involved in theatre production are invited to participate in an overnight camp on Northwestern College’s campus July 9–12. The Monday through Thursday Theatre Camp is for students going into grades 9–12. Registration is $250, which includes room and board as well as access to campus facilities and amenities.

Daily camp activities will include morning and afternoon theatre workshops as well as theatre games, improv and scene work. Camp instructors are Northwestern theatre students and the college’s award-winning professors, who are experienced actors, directors, playwrights and technicians.

“I can’t believe everything I got to do in just four days—from improv to learning to sew in the costume shop,” said Gideon Fynaardt, Alton, who attended the theatre camp last summer and says he put what he learned to use in his high school improv company and a role in the school’s spring musical “Oklahoma.”

For more information or to register, visit www.nwciowa.edu/theatrecamp or contact camp assistant Jennifer Sabo in Northwestern’s theatre department at 712-707-7341 or theatre@nwciowa.edu. The registration deadline is June 8.
