Eleven professors will conduct research with funding from the Northwestern College Scholarship Grants program.

Guidebook recommends 18 NWC programs
Eighteen of Northwestern College’s academic programs are listed in the 2012 edition of Rugg’s Recommendations on the Colleges, a national guidebook that recommends specific college departments to prospective students.

Professor Kim Van Es and nine students presented a breakout session at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English conference.

Poet and memoirist Scott Cairns will read a selection of his work for Northwestern’s Deep Song Reading Series on Nov. 7.

Todd Boss will read a selection of his poetry at Northwestern College when he is featured in the school’s Deep Song Reading Series on Oct. 5.

Authors Nicole Baart and Elaine Cooper will kick off Northwestern’s 2011–12 Deep Song Reading Series Sept. 9.

Faculty awarded grants for scholarship
Nine Northwestern professors will conduct scholarship and research this summer with college funding.

Northwestern College students will travel to the Czech Republic, Germany, Israel, Japan and Turkey this summer through three-week study abroad programs offered by NWC faculty.

Student essays included in textbook
Essays by seven NWC students and alumni have been published as instructive samples of student writing in an English textbook.

"Pie," a short story by Northwestern College senior Anna Pitney, Wausau, Wis., has been accepted for publication in the Albion Review.
