High school students invited to Theatre Preview Days

High school seniors interested in theatre are invited to Northwestern College Theatre Preview Days on Nov. 11 and 12; activities start at 11 a.m. on Friday and continue through noon on Saturday.

On Friday, participants will visit an acting class and tour the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center and other campus facilities. They can also ask a panel of current theatre students questions about Northwestern’s theatre program, professors and productions.

In the evening, students will attend Northwestern theatre’s performance of Talley’s Folly, a Pulitzer Prize-winning romantic comedy set in the American South during World War II. After the play, visitors are invited “backstage” to interact with Northwestern theatre student-actors, designers and technicians.

On Saturday morning, students will meet with theatre faculty and have the opportunity to audition for theatre scholarships. Scholarships are available for performance, technical and stage management roles in Northwestern theatre. Awards range from $2,300 to $2,600 annually and are based on candidates’ theatre skill, experience and plans to be actively involved in Northwestern theatre.

Events and meals during the Theatre Preview Days are free; parents are also invited to attend.
