Bradley to perform student recital

Northwestern College senior Amber (Mehlhaf) Bradley of Menno, S.D., will present a vocal recital on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The public is invited to attend; no admission will be charged.

Bradley will be assisted by pianist Lori Vande Brake, staff accompanist, and flute soloist Kathleen Kropp, a Northwestern senior. Quartet members Laura Briggs, a Northwestern junior, and Northwestern seniors Andrew Klumpp and Richie Clark will also be assisting Bradley.

A variety of literature will be performed, from composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, Albert Hay Malotte and Ned Rorem. The works consist of both sacred and secular pieces. Also, a variety of dramatic works from operas and oratorios will be performed.

“There are many different genres and eras being featured in my recital,” says Bradley. “One of my favorite pieces on the program is The Lord is My Shepherd, in which Albert Hay Malotte took the famed Psalm 23 and set it to music.”

Bradley is a music and elementary education major at Northwestern. She has been a part of Northwestern’s chapel praise team, Symphonic Band, A cappella Choir and Heritage Singers, and has accompanied other music students and the Heritage Singers. Bradley began her private study under Emily Lodine, lecturer in music, as a freshman and still continues to study with her.
