Northwestern College will host a memorial celebration for John “Bear” Greller, former vice president for advancement, who died Feb. 19 in Newberg, Ore. The event will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, in the Bultman Center.

All individuals who were impacted by John and Janeo Greller are invited to an informal celebration of John’s life. Janeo, their children and grandchildren will be present. The event will include time to visit with the family from 1-2, family remarks at 2:15, and an opportunity for guests to share stories about Bear. There will be a table for guests to leave a message for the family. Light refreshments will be available. Guests are encouraged to come and go as time allows. Children are welcome.

John Greller served as Northwestern’s vice president for advancement from 1992 to 2009, overseeing the raising of $67 million for facilities such as the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, Korver Visual Arts Center, Bultman Center and Zwemer Hall, as well as scholarships and programs. “He saw himself as more of a ‘friend raiser’ than a fundraiser,” says President Greg Christy, “and with his warm personality, authentic Christian faith, encouraging nature, self-effacing humor, Christ-focused optimism and genuine concern for others, he truly was a great friend of Northwestern and our constituents. We look forward to honoring his commitment to Christ and the long legacy he has left at Northwestern during this special event.”
