Classes postponed until Wednesday, Jan. 8

Because of the extreme cold, Northwestern is postponing the first day of spring semester classes until Wednesday, Jan. 8. Offices will be open Monday and Tuesday, and residence halls will open at 9 a.m. Monday as previously planned.

Students who have begun their return trip to campus are urged to stay where they are tonight and/or tomorrow night. Jay Wielenga and Mark Bloemendaal in Northwestern's advancement office have connections with alumni throughout the region who would be willing to provide lodging; please contact them if assistance is needed: jayw@nwciowa.edu or markb@nwciowa.edu.

Faculty and staff who live a fair distance from Orange City should exercise great caution in traveling to work tomorrow as the forecast calls for the 20-below-zero temperatures to persist until at least 8 a.m. If you are not able or do not feel safe traveling, please contact your supervisor.

Northwestern's online courses will also start on Wednesday.
