NWC to host Ethnic Fair

International students at Northwestern College will give area residents the opportunity to experience the food, music, dance and customs of countries from around the world during the college’s annual Ethnic Fair Saturday, March 23.

Hosted by Northwestern’s International Club, the event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center gymnasium. An all-you-can-eat meal of authentic Japanese, Korean, South African, Vietnamese, Canadian, Thai, Colombian and German food is included in the admission price of $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-10. Those who are not eating will be charged an entry fee of $1.

The evening’s entertainment will include a fashion show featuring international students wearing the traditional clothing of their home countries, in addition to songs, dances and a “Chopstick Challenge” that tests participants’ dexterity with chopsticks. There will also be displays about international students’ countries—with flags, photos and artifacts from each region.

Northwestern’s International Club is composed of more than 200 students from Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ethiopia, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Oman, the Philippines, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States.
