Grand Rapids minister to speak

The Rev. Jeff Munroe, a Reformed Church in America minister in Grand Rapids, Mich., will speak in Northwestern College’s chapel services on Monday, Oct. 24, at 10:05 a.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 11:05 a.m. Appearing under the auspices of the Ronald R. Nelson Scholars and Artists in Residence Program, he will speak on “The Journey Inward and The Journey Outward.” The public is invited to attend.

Munroe works as a ministry consultant for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and a freelance speaker, teacher and writer. He worked for 29 years for Young Life in West Michigan and the Netherlands, and he has served as an adjunct professor at Hope College and Western Theological Seminary. Munroe’s writing has recently been published in the Words of Hope devotional, Perspectives: A Journal of Christian Thought, www.thinkChristian.net and on Spotlight Radio.

“This will be a treat,” said Northwestern College’s chaplain, the Rev. Harlan Van Oort. “Jeff is a great theologian, brilliant writer and funny man. He knows the youth culture very well, so it will be interesting to see how he interacts with our campus.”

The Ronald R. Nelson Scholars and Artists in Residence Program seeks to inspire students with scholarship that encourages peace and justice. The program is named in honor of Ron Nelson, a history professor who taught at Northwestern from 1974 until his death in 1985.
