Sociology professors present papers

Dr. Scott Monsma, professor of sociology, and Dr. Mike Yoder, recently retired professor of sociology, gave presentations at the Association of Christians Teaching Sociology conference at St. Olaf College on June 11.

Monsma presented "(Re)reading the Text: (Re)telling the Fragmented Story of Michal." He linked the story of Michal from I and II Samuel to the work of sociologist Peter Berger and the social construction of reality, as well as to issues raised by the postmodern/emergent church. 

Yoder spoke on "The Cultures of a Christian College." His presentation was based on his sabbatical research from spring 2010.
