Chamber ensembles to perform

Northwestern College’s Brass Quintet, Handbell Choir and piano students will present a concert on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The ensembles will perform in Christ Chapel, and the public is invited to attend.

The Brass Quintet, directed by Dr. Timothy McGarvey, will perform seven pieces. The ensemble will play several hymn arrangements, including Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven (arranged by David R. Thomas) and Rejoice Ye Pure in Heart by Arthur Messiter. Anthony Holborne’s Five Pieces, Anton Dvořák’s Goin’ Home and Euday Bowman’s 12th Street Rag will also be featured.

The Handbell Choir, under the direction of Dr. Heather Josselyn-Cranson, will perform Hart Morris’ arrangement of People, Look East. Northwestern music students Laura Briggs and Kai-Hao Chen, directed by Professor MaryLou Wielenga, will perform several piano duets, including Sonatina in C Major for 2 pianos by Clementi-Timms and Sonata in D Major for four hands by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
