Senior art exhibit to feature ceramics

Thrown ceramic tea bowls created by Ian Dudley, a senior majoring in art and writing at Northwestern College, will be on display Feb. 22 through March 5 in the college’s Te Paske Gallery.

A public reception is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., during which Dudley will serve tea in his tea bowls to those attending the art exhibition. The bowls people use will be theirs to keep. “Throughout my time at Northwestern, I have been trying to find the meeting point between art and community,” Dudley says. “This is my personal attempt to reconcile the two.”

Dudley’s exhibit is in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree in art. Originally from Barnstead, N.H., he plans to enroll in a graduate program in creative writing following his graduation from Northwestern this spring.

The Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th St. S.W. in Orange City. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
