The cast is also presenting Jungle Book Tales to audiences of schoolchildren every Tuesday and Thursday from Oct. 1 through Nov. 12.
Adapted and directed by Northwestern theatre professor Jeff Taylor, Jungle Book Tales tells the story of Mowgli, a boy who is being raised by wolves in the jungles of India. Guiding him as he learns about friends, enemies and pack loyalty are Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.
The one-hour production will include vine-swinging Bandar-logs (monkeys) and puppetry for the characters of Chil, the hawk, and Kaa, the snake.
The cast includes Northwestern freshmen Hannah Barker, Orange City, as Mowgli, and Abby Bierly, Hull, as Mowgli’s wolf-mother Raksha. Orange City students Hannah and Noah Norton, who are home-schooled, also act in the production.
Jungle Book Tales is recommended for children ages 6 and up. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The DeWitt Theatre box office opens Sept. 21 for Theatre Patrons; it is open Sept. 22 to Oct. 3 for the general public.
