Northwestern professor elected vice president of ACMS

Dr. Kim Jongerius, professor of mathematics at Northwestern College, was elected vice president of the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences (ACMS) at its biennial conference in Chicago May 28-30.

Jongerius will serve a two-year term as vice president, having just completed four years on the ACMS board--the last two as its secretary. In addition to a 12-year membership in the ACMS, Jongerius belongs to the Mathematical Association of America and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

A member of Northwestern's faculty since 1993, Jongerius won Northwestern's Teaching Excellence Award in 2005. She has a doctorate in mathematics from Colorado State University and has been published in the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra.
