Sioux County Oratorio Chorus, with the A cappella Choir
The Sioux County Oratorio Chorus, under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Holm, and Northwestern's A cappella Choir present Haydn’s Mass in Time of War. Also known as the Paukenmesse for its dramatic use of timpani, the piece is sung in Latin and features four professional soloists, choir and orchestra. At times, the music reflects the fears and instability of war-torn Europe and makes references to battle, but the mass as a whole maintains the joyful, lyric quality and vitality for which Haydn is known. Tickets are $8 in advance/$10 at the door and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at Northwestern’s music office, Dordt's music office in Sioux Center, and at Touch of Hope in Sheldon.
