Northwestern Chamber Orchestra, Women's Choir to present concert

Northwestern College’s Chamber Orchestra and Women’s Choir will perform a concert Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.

The Chamber Orchestra, directed by Dr. Juyeon Kang, professor of music, will perform under the theme “Music from the Movies,” with pieces like W.A. Mozart’s “Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio” and “Symphony No. 40,” Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings, Op.11,” and “The Magnificent Seven” by Elmer Bernstein, arranged by Rob Phillippe. The ensemble will also perform the main title piece from “Star Wars Suite for Orchestra” by John Williams.

The Women’s Choir, directed by Susan De Jong, will perform numerous faith-based pieces, including “Now Sing We Joyfully Unto God” by G. Young, “Psalm 100” by René Clausen and “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter. The choir will also present Rudolf de Beer’s “Amavolovolo,” James McCray’s “A Child Said” and Ernani Aguiar’s “Salmo 150.”
