Children's theatre production on stage at Northwestern

Favorite, funny kindergartner Junie B. Jones will be on stage at Northwestern College. “Junie B. Jones is not a Crook” will be presented Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. The play will be on stage in the Allen Theatre, where it is also being presented to schoolchildren every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 27 to Nov. 15.

Adapted from both the seventh and ninth books of Barbara Park’s beloved series, the hourlong comedy follows 6-year-old Junie through a dramatic crisis of conscience. Her favorite furry mittens have gone missing. Why didn’t whoever found them put them in the lost-and-found? Thief? Thief! But then Junie finds a wonderful, colorful pen and wonders, “Finders, keepers; losers, weepers,” right?

“Junie B. Jones is not a Crook” was scripted for stage by Allison Gregory. Junie will be joined on stage by some of Park’s other memorable characters, including That Grace, Meanie Jim and Handsome Warren.

Tickets for “Junie B. Jones is not a Crook” are $8 for adults and $4 for students. The shows take place during Northwestern College’s Raider Days Homecoming celebration and are free for alumni and their family members. Tickets are available starting Sept. 17 for Theatre Patrons and Sept. 18–29 for the general public.

Tickets can be reserved at www.nwciowa.edu/tickets or by visiting the DeWitt Theatre box office between 5 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday or between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday. The box office can also be reached by phone, 712-707-7098, or e-mail, boxoffice@nwciowa.edu.
