Team places third in regional programming competition
A team of three Northwestern students placed third among 203 squads in the North Central region of the Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest on Oct. 31.
Northwestern’s nursing and admissions departments will host two upcoming nursing mini-camps for high school juniors and seniors interested in careers in nursing. The one-day camps will be held on Monday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Jan. 22.
Dr. James Kennedy, an Orange City native who is professor of Dutch history since the middle ages at the University of Amsterdam, will present a lecture about European health care on Nov. 16.
Ann Zimmerman, folk musician from Salina, Kan., will perform at The Hub at Northwestern College Saturday, Nov. 14, at 9 p.m.

Saxophone virtuoso and band to premiere concerto
Northwestern's Symphonic Band and a guest saxophone soloist will present the world premiere of a concerto during their concert on Nov. 13.

Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble to perform
Northwestern’s Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble will perform a variety of styles during a concert on Nov. 14.
Senior Abby (Leusink) Sheppard of Hawarden will present a vocal recital on Nov. 8.
Dr. Scott Monsma, associate professor of sociology, presented a paper at the Iowa Dialogue Conference.
"Ballad Hunter," a play about three generations of Appalachian women, will be on stage Nov. 12–14 and 19–21 in the England Theatre.
Ruston Seaman, director of the World Vision Rural Poverty Initiative, will speak in chapel services on Nov. 2 and 3.
