The Faculty Honors award is bestowed upon graduates who excel in academic achievement, Christian influence, general attitude and participation in worthwhile campus activities. It is the highest honor the faculty gives to graduating seniors and is determined by a vote of the entire faculty.

Troutner graduated summa cum laude and received the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award from the biblical and theological studies department. An Honors Scholar, he researched how “The Jewish War,” a first-century work by Flavius Josephus, reflected the Roman-Jewish historian’s theology of the temple.

Northwestern’s 2022 recipient of the Zondervan Hebrew Award, Troutner studied abroad in both Greece and at the University of Oxford in England, where he was awarded the Scholarship & Christianity in Oxford Academic Prize. During his time at Northwestern, he served as a research assistant, teacher’s assistant, theology tutor and discipleship group leader.

A member of the college’s worship team, Troutner also served as a church ministries intern and worship leader intern at local churches. He participated in multiple vocal and string ensembles on campus and performed in several Northwestern theatrical productions. This fall, he will pursue a graduate degree at the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
