Business Faculty

Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) invites applications for a full-time business faculty position beginning in August 2027. The teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year. In addition to classroom instruction, the successful candidate will engage in scholarly activity and institutional service, including advising students, supervising program activities, and recruiting for the business and economics programs.

We are seeking a versatile educator who can seamlessly bridge specialized agricultural courses with high-demand business offerings. Roughly half of the teaching load will focus on the Agricultural Business curriculum—delivering foundational and advanced courses such as Introduction to Ag Business, Ag Technology Systems, Ag Issues and Ethics, and Ag Risk and Cost Management, alongside overseeing student internships, practicums, and advising the student Ag Club. The remaining portion of the load will support our core business program by teaching essential courses like Business Writing, Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Integrated Marketing Communication, and Small Business Management, with opportunities to introduce electives aligned with your specific scholarly or professional expertise.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Education, Business Administration, or a closely related field, with candidates holding a master’s degree and significant professional experience considered for an Instructor or Professor of Practice role. We seek faculty members who are committed to excellence in teaching, active scholarly engagement, and the mission of the liberal arts as a vital expression of Christ's redemptive work in the world.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates holding an earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in Agricultural Business, Business Administration, or a closely related field for a tenure-track appointment (ABD candidates considered). Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching, maintain research that engages students, and show a strong commitment to relationship-centered mentorship. We seek a collaborative colleague who will enrich our departmental culture through service, shared purpose, and a dedication to helping students flourish academically, professionally, and personally.

Northwestern College seeks candidates with an authentic Christian faith who will embrace and live out our mission & values, including our Reformed, evangelical and ecumenical identity as stated in our Christian Identity Statement, Mission Statement, Vision for Learning and Vision for Diversity. We view these statements as complementary and draw from each in fulfilling our mission.

Apply online below and send a current CV and a letter of interest to [email protected].  In your letter, please (1) summarize your teaching experience, (2) describe your scholarly trajectory, and (3) discuss how our Christian Identity Statement would inform and shape your teaching and scholarship. Incomplete applications won’t be considered.

Application deadline is November 15, 2026.
