Sports Communications "Voice of the Raiders"

Northwestern College is seeking engaging and energetic candidates to serve as a play-by-play broadcaster for home Red Raider football, volleyball and basketball contests beginning in August of 2026. The “Voice of the Raiders” will serve as the lead broadcaster for Raider athletics with additional opportunities existing for other sport coverage and NAIA postseason events. This part-time position will report to the director of athletic communications and will work collaboratively with the athletic department to promote the mission of Northwestern College and Red Raider athletics.

General Responsibilities:

• Provide live play-by-play commentary for Northwestern College home athletic events broadcast via the GPAC Network and/or Urban Edge Network
• Be available for all home football, volleyball and basketball games, which primarily take place during evenings and weekends
• Deliver clear, energetic and engaging commentary that accurately describes game action in a collegiate sports environment
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of and enthusiasm for football, volleyball and basketball, including rules, terminology and strategy
• Speak professionally and positively about Northwestern College athletics while maintaining a fair, balanced broadcast that highlights the achievements of both competing teams
• Understand and execute the flow of a TV-style broadcast, including reading sponsor scripts, coordinating commercial breaks, and adhering to broadcast timing
• Collaborate closely with the broadcast producer and production staff to ensure commentary aligns with graphics, replays and on-screen content
• Prepare for broadcasts by reviewing rosters, statistics, storylines and other relevant background information prior to each contest
• Represent Northwestern College and its athletic programs with professionalism, integrity and enthusiasm on-air

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field.
• Experience in play-by-play at high school or collegiate level on radio and/or livestream.

This is a part-time, 10-month position (August-May). Compensation commensurate with experience and availability.
