Civil Engineering Faculty
Northwestern College seeks an ambitious and experienced engineering educator to join its undergraduate engineering program in August of 2026. This position will teach introductory to advanced courses in civil engineering, as well as foundational engineering courses. The ideal candidate will have expertise in structural engineering and will demonstrate a passion for teaching and mentoring future engineers. The teaching load for this position is 24 credit hours per academic year. The successful candidate will also be responsible for scholarship and service, including recruiting and advising engineering students.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, with a specialization in structural engineering, to be considered for a tenure track position. A master's degree with extensive experience will qualify candidates to be instructors or professors of practice. Candidates must demonstrate evidence for strong classroom teaching and engagement in scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have demonstrated teaching experience in engineering and research interests conducive to student involvement. Familiarity with concrete analysis is desirable, as well as enthusiasm, experience and energy for contributing to the development of a new academic program. Northwestern College intends to pursue accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), so familiarity with accreditation will be viewed favorably.
