Energized for discovery

In his first semester at Northwestern after transferring from a community college, Dominick got to work preparing for his career goal of becoming a doctor or dentist. The biochemistry major worked with other students and biology and chemistry professors on research that led to scholarly presentations at the Iowa Academy of Science conference and Northwestern’s Celebration of Research. He also built study breaks into his schedule, getting involved in intramural sports and a discipleship group.

Great chemistry
I chose Northwestern because of the community atmosphere. As I walked around campus on my campus tour, everyone greeted me and was very nice.

Solid program
Northwestern’s biochemistry major is challenging. They make it so you must really know the material and be able to problem-solve, which is excellent preparation for grad school and a career in the health professions.

Strong mentors
The science faculty are all great people. They want to help students succeed—getting you well prepared for not only future schooling but also life.

Chain reaction
I have gained great friends and have had incredible experiences with the people at Northwestern. I’ve been impressed to see that students here work extremely hard in everything they do. The result is that Northwestern helps you become well-rounded—better in all aspects of life.
