Madrigal dinner tickets still available

Tickets are still available for the madrigal dinners being presented by Northwestern College’s Heritage Singers on Jan. 17–19.

The dinners, taking place at 7 p.m. in Vermeer Dining Hall, represent a 16th-century medieval feast. A traditional English masque, “The Truth Fairy,” will be featured. Its plot centers on the expected retirement of the jester and the need to find her replacement. Suitors are willing to say anything to get the job, so the Truth Fairy seeks to determine the truth and find the most honest candidate.

“It’s a very funny drama, and the cast is outstanding,” says Dr. Thomas Holm, professor of music. “It will be a delightful evening filled with a wide variety of entertainment, artistry and a fabulous prime-rib meal. Tickets make nice early Valentine’s Day gifts.”

Lois Estell, a 2006 Northwestern alumna, is serving as drama director, and the Heritage Singers are directed by Holm.

Reservations are required; tickets are $30 per person. Tickets may be purchased at Northwestern’s music department office in DeWitt Music Hall Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.nwciowa.edu/madrigaldinner or call the music department at 712-707-7062.
