NWC names new financial aid director

Eric Anderson of Orange City has been named Northwestern College's director of financial aid. Currently a financial planning assistant at the Van Rooyen Financial Group, Anderson previously worked in Northwestern's student life office from 1996 to 2008.

“Eric brings a knowledge of Northwestern College and the kind of academic background, experience, and people skills that will enable him to be successful in making a Northwestern education affordable for families,” says Ron De Jong, Northwestern's vice president for external relations. “We are excited to have him provide leadership for the financial aid office."

Anderson, who will start his new job in July, earned a bachelor's degree in business systems and math systems from Indiana's Taylor University. He completed an M.B.A. in finance at Ball State University.

“I was attracted to this position because it seemed to be a good fit with my experiences and interests, and I have a love for Northwestern and its mission,” says Anderson. “A Northwestern education is an investment that's worth the cost, and I am looking forward to helping families find strategies to make it work."

Anderson was resident director of Northwestern's West Hall from 1996 to 2001 and associate dean of residence life from 2001 to 2008. He is a deacon at Trinity Reformed Church and a steering committee member for the Orange City Community Garden at ARC. Anderson has taught a business class at Northwestern and led seminars on budgeting, investing, debt and stewardship.

He replaces Teresa Gunderson, who left the post in January to work at Sioux Center's American State Bank.
