NWC to host Ethnic Fair March 27
Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center gymnasium, the event will feature music and dance from around the world. A meal composed of international foods is included in the admission price of $10 for adults and $5 for children up to age 12. Those not eating will be charged an entry fee of $1 per person.
Northwestern’s international students will wear traditional clothes and perform songs and dances from their home countries. A “Chopstick Challenge” will test participants’ dexterity with chopsticks. There will also be international flags on display, with presentations about various countries.
“The Ethnic Fair is very educational and really fun,” says Eduardo Rodriguez, vice president of the I-Club. “It shows the diversity we can find even within the community of Northwestern College. When you can share your culture, it’s almost like sharing part of your home, and that can mean a lot to people.”
Northwestern’s International Club is composed of more than 200 students from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Georgia,
