Van Dyk to speak in chapel services

Dr. Leanne Van Dyk, professor of Reformed theology, dean and vice president of academic affairs at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich., will speak in Northwestern College chapel services on April 14 and 15.  

Van Dyk will speak on Tuesday, April 14, at 11:05 a.m. in Christ Chapel. She will also address the Northwestern community on Wednesday, April 15, at 10:05 a.m. Van Dyk will speak about the importance of worship and encourage the renewal of worship in Christian practices. She will also be the featured speaker for Northwestern College’s annual Pastors Conference April 14.

A member of Western’s faculty since 1998, Van Dyk holds a Master of Divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary and a doctorate in systematic theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. Prior to her appointment at Western, she taught at San Francisco Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif., for six years. She also was a member-in-residence at the Center of Theological Inquiry in Princeton, N.J.; a member of the Wabash Center’s Consultation on Theological Education; and part of the Catechism Committee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Van Dyk is the author of A More Profound Alleluia: Theology and Worship in Harmony, Believing in Jesus Christ and The Desire of Divine Love: The Atonement Theology of John McLeod Campbell. She serves on the editorial boards of Perspectives: A Journal of Reformed Theology and the Scottish Journal of Theology.
