Class of 2020
Members of the Class of 2020 are ready to take Northwestern’s mission of courageous and faithful participation in God’s redeeming work into the world. We asked some of our standout students about their Raider Nation experience—what they learned, what they loved about it, and how they hope to lead lives of significance after college.

How would you describe your experience at Northwestern?
It exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Northwestern allowed me to discover a vast array of ideas and to develop meaningful relationships with people from a variety of places around the world. To sum it all up, I would say my experience at Northwestern is similar to a spontaneous trip that proceeded to open doors that I thought were deemed to remain shut.
How have you changed or grown since coming to Northwestern?
I will never forget my first time in Orange City. I felt like a lost soul in a winter wonderland, trying to understand the cold wind slowly making its way through my layers of clothing, which still were not enough to block the cold weather. I had so many firsts that I barely had time to be aware of them all. However, this place changed me in so many ways. During my years at Northwestern, I learned to take the time to get to know and understand myself and those around me better. I grew in empathy, compassion and awareness of my surroundings. I was challenged—and through those challenges, I learned to transcend the superficial to reach the deep and essential part of things.
What’s next?
After graduating in December, I started working at ChildServe as a resident assistant and certified nursing assistant. Through this opportunity, I am gaining substantial experience that is preparing me to enter the field of pediatric medicine.
