Black Hills Weekend Retreat

Transportation:  Two coach buses will leave at 3:30pm and at 5:30pm on Friday. If there is interest, we’ll also take a van where passengers are masked.  We’ll return by 9pm on Sunday night.

Location:  Camp Judson in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota just a few miles outside of Keystone.  I have enjoyed many cups of coffee sitting in a chair on the deck taking in the view.  Accommodations are rustic but comfortable with bunk beds (rooms vary in size and # of beds)  and shared restroom/shower facilities in the building.  www.campjudson.org.

Food:  Bring your own sack lunch to eat on the bus Friday night.  Meals are provided at the camp Saturday and for brunch on Sunday. Sunday evening, you’ll need to purchase your own when we stop in Mitchell for fast food.  Feel free to bring snacks or anything for your own particular dietary needs. If you are on a meal plan, two meals will be deducted from your plan to account for breakfast and lunch on Saturday. 

Program:  We are pleased to have retired theatre profs (and all around amazing people) Karen and Jeff Barker speaking this year. There will also be worship, conversation, solitude time, a campfire, and recreation. Basic Schedule:

• Friday. Travel.  
• Saturday.  Morning-Breakfast, session I (intros, worship, speaker, small groups, etc.), lunch/solitude.  Afternoon-recreation.  Evening-games, workshops, campfire.
• Sunday.  Morning outdoor worship, amazing brunch, travel home (with short stops at Wall Drug and fast food in Mitchel)l. 

Recreation:  Saturday afternoon, there will be a bus to Rushmore with a stop in Keystone, a hike to Baldy, and the option of staying at camp/hiking to Horse Thief Lake.   

Family members:  Family members are welcome.  The registration form will ask for information about them. 

Cost:  Earlybird special thru September 10: $65.  September 11-16: $75   Cost covers transportation, lodging and the above mentioned meals.  We are grateful to be able to offer this low cost because of the generosity of an endowment for ministry activities and the partnership of the Student Programs Office.
