Dr. Sarah Wynia-Smith graduated from Northwestern College in 2003 with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She earned a Ph.D. in physiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 and did post-doctoral biochemistry research at the University of California-Berkeley and The Scripps Research institute. In 2014 Wynia-Smith moved to Milwaukee with her husband, Brian, where they currently work together in the “family business” of running a research lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Wynia-Smith's lab studies biochemical pathways underlying many inflammation-related diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and certain neurodegenerative diseases. She will share how her faith and work intersect. This event is open only to Northwestern students, faculty and staff members.
