By the time you are given a student-teaching assignment, you’ll already have spent over 100 hours in educational settings. Student teaching will be the last step before you are finally responsible for your own classroom.
Most education majors do their student teaching at schools within a 50-mile radius of campus, but you’re welcome to arrange an assignment in your hometown or another community too. Majors have participated in the Chicago Semester, student teaching in Windy City schools and taking a class focused on issues facing teachers in urban schools. Education majors have even student-taught overseas.
