Endowed scholarships and gifts

Endowed gifts to Northwestern College are never-ending donations because only the income earned on the principal is used for the purpose you choose. They are important for the future strength and viability of NWC. The most common endowed gifts support student scholarships, but they can support other efforts as well.

Scholarships

  • Provides financial assistance to students
  • Funded through outright gifts, irrevocable planned gifts and/or your will
  • Scholarship criteria determined by donor in consultation with college personnel
  • $25,000 minimum gift

Endowed chairs

  • Helps attract, honor and reward outstanding professors
  • Funded through outright gifts, irrevocable planned gifts and/or your will
  • Criteria determined by donor in consultation with college personnel
  • $1 million minimum gift

Faculty development

  • Funds academic enrichment for faculty
  • Supports writing, independent research, research with students and related travel
  • Funded through outright gifts, irrevocable planned gifts and/or your will
  • $50,000 minimum gift

Institutional loan funds

  • Allows Northwestern to provide loans to students based on their circumstances and needs
  • No minimum contribution

Plant maintenance funds

  • Supports general upkeep and maintenance of campus buildings and grounds
  • No minimum contribution

Speaker funds

  • Allows Northwestern to host speakers for academic, student life and spiritual life areas
  • Criteria determined by donor in consultation with college personnel
  • $50,000 minimum gift
