Dr. Chet DeJong serves as the medical director for Northwestern's physician assistant program. He is a board-certified family practitioner who is also a family practice physician with Sanford Health Rock Rapids. Previously, he also served as Lyon County coroner, Lyon County ambulance director, Lyon Specialty Care medical director and Good Samaritan Society medical director. He has taught as an adjunct faculty member since the inception of the physician assistant program.

Dr. DeJong earned his bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Medical School. He is licensed as a medical doctor and in Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). His board certifications include American Board of Family Practice, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Life Support Obstetrics, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
