Music travel
Choir and band tours
Annually, the A cappella Choir and Symphonic Band alternate between either a two-week or a long weekend tour to churches, schools and concert halls across the U.S. and abroad. Recent tours have included the Midwest and both coasts. In addition, the choir has toured in Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland, and the band has performed in Mexico, Venezuela and Ukraine. In 2013, the band will tour in Cuba.
Study abroad
Northwestern musicians have taken “notes” all over the world through semester-long study abroad programs and summer courses in a variety of disciplines and countries. In partnership with Christian colleges, the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) offers 6 study abroad programs, including the Australia Studies Centre, offered through the Wesley Institute for Ministry and the Arts. Participants live in Sydney and take courses in the fine arts, including music.
Contemporary Music Center (CMC)
The CMC is also a CCCU program located in Nashville, Tennessee. Participants live in an artists’ community and learn about music writing, composition, performance, production and marketing. Read about Alexis Wiersma's Nashville experience in 2013.
