The Northwestern service team that assisted Mendenhall Ministries in Mississippi over spring break made the front page of the local newspaper when they installed what is believed to be the first working solar panel in Simpson County. Social work professor Mark De Ruyter and student Seth Lembke learned how to make the panels in West Virginia over Christmas break.
