Students participating in the “Chopstick Challenge”
Members of Northwestern College’s International Club will give area residents the opportunity to experience other cultures during the college’s annual Ethnic Fair Saturday, April 9. Admission to the fair, scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center Mini-Gym, is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children under 10. For an additional cost, fair-goers can sample ethnic cuisine.

The program will feature international students wearing traditional costumes and performing songs and dances from their native countries. The “Chopstick Challenge” will test participants’ dexterity with chopsticks, while children will have opportunities to make a variety of international crafts.

There will also be international flags on display, presentations about various countries, and performances by the Juggling Club, Black V improvisational theatre team, and other American students.

Northwestern’s International Club is composed of approximately 70 students from Ghana, India, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Taiwan, Ukraine and the United States.
