Visit Northwestern and we'll reimburse the cost of your airfare up to $300, payable when you're accepted for admission. The reimbursement must be requested within one month of your visit and is subject to the following restrictions:

  1. Reimbursement is for airfare only and does not include baggage fees.
  2. You must stay overnight on campus in order to be eligible for the airfare reimbursement. If your trip includes visits to other colleges, Northwestern will reimburse you for a portion of your ticket cost, up to $150 (excluding baggage fees).
  3. Only high school juniors, seniors and transfer students are eligible for the one-time flight reimbursement. Additional visits will be made at the student's own expense.
  4. Tickets for traveling companions are not eligible for reimbursement.

If you're arriving by plane and require transportation to campus, please book your flight into either Sioux City, IA (45 min. from Orange City) or Sioux Falls, SD (1.5 hours from Orange City). Select a flight that arrives no later than 10 p.m. on Thursday in order to catch the airport-to-campus transportation provided by Northwestern. Return campus-to-airport transportation will be available after 8 a.m. on Saturday. Contact your admissions counselor if you have questions.

  • For more airport options, come during our Fly to Iowa Preview weekend Nov. 17–19

There’s no fee for Preview Days. Lunch in the cafeteria for you and your parents is on us. If you arrive on campus the night before your Preview Day, we’ll house you in one of our residence halls. Since campus housing is limited to students, your parents will need to make their own accommodations in a local hotel.

Your parents are invited to join you for a Northwestern Preview Day. They may especially be interested in hearing from our financial aid director, professors and students. If you’re staying in one of our dorms overnight, your parents can check out our suggestions for nearby lodging.

If you have a question about Preview Days that we haven’t answered, please contact Laura De Boer, Northwestern’s campus visit coordinator, by calling the admissions office at 712-707-7119 or 800-747-4757 or e-mailing visit@nwciowa.edu.
