Northwestern College will send nine teams of students led by faculty and staff advisers on service trips across the United States during spring break.

Jeff Barker, professor emeritus of theatre at Northwestern College, has completed his third book about a Sioux Center woman who spent 33 years as a missionary nurse in Africa.

Northwestern College has set a spring enrollment record with 1,482 students. This year’s number is up from 1,406 last spring.

“Sweat,” the 2017 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by acclaimed playwright Lynn Nottage, is scheduled for the Northwestern College stage during three evenings in February.

Northwestern College will begin offering a major in software engineering next fall. The major is designed to prepare students for careers in software engineering and development, database administration, and web and mobile app development.

Northwestern NEXT, Northwestern College’s two-year program for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities, has been approved as a comprehensive transition and postsecondary program by the U.S. Department of Education.

Northwestern College’s nursing program has been ranked among the nation’s top 20 percent, as well as 35th out of the best 100 in the Plains region, by Nursing Schools Almanac.
