Transfer students

Students who transfer to Northwestern say our college is exceptionally welcoming and easy to fit into. Regardless of your reason for transferring—whether you’re graduating from a community college or want to find a college that’s a better fit for you—we’ll do everything we can to ensure a smooth transition. On average, between 50 and 60 students transfer to Northwestern each year.

We’ll accept a maximum of 62 credits from another institution if you’ve achieved a GPA of at least 2.25 and are in good standing at the college you’re currently attending. If you complete at least your final 30 credits here, you’ll earn a Northwestern College diploma. To find out how many of your credits will transfer—with no obligation to enroll—send an official transcript and catalog course descriptions to Jeff Guthmiller, the transfer specialist in our admissions office.
