Luke Scholarship

The Luke Scholarship, named for the author of the Gospel of Luke, who was known as a “beloved physician,” is for students with a strong Christian faith and character who intend to major in biology-health sciences and pursue a career as a physician, physician’s assistant, optometrist, dentist, podiatrist or physical therapist. Recipients are selected by members of the NWC biology department.

Scholarship criteria:
  1. Applicants must be incoming freshmen with strong evidence of Christian faith and character as demonstrated in school, church and/or the community.
  2. GPA ≥ 3.8 or top 5% of high school class
  3. Combined ACT math + science score ≥ 56 (or SAT math score ≥ 660)
  4. Preference will be given to applicants who are pre-med

Write a brief essay in which you address the following criteria:

  • Your health science career choice and what led you to select it
  • Why you want to study at Northwestern College
  • Your dreams/goals for the next 20 years as they relate to a career as a health science professional

Letters of Recommendation

Please provide the name and email address for two individuals who can provide a letter of recommendation for you to receive this scholarship. We will send an email to them requesting that they submit a letter directly to Northwestern College.
