Running the race
Payton’s campus visit to Northwestern revealed an environment that perfectly aligned with what he was seeking. Impressed by the genuine sense of community and the approachable nature of both the students and faculty, he decided to become a Raider. Payton competes in cross country and track and field and serves as a resident assistant. As a finance major with a minor in biblical and theological studies, he is on track for a career as a financial adviser or administrative pastor.
Servant’s heart
My interest in numbers and financial markets has been present since high school. I have a passion for working with people, particularly within the church, and I am eager to utilize my education and talents to serve others. I am particularly drawn to the idea of using my understanding of finance to contribute positively to the community, with aspirations of assisting the church and other clients in their financial endeavors.
Positive profs
I have been blessed by professors who encourage critical thinking through challenging questions and introduce topics that have broadened my intellectual horizons about my faith. Many professors possess international professional experience and employ varied teaching methodologies, yet they all effectively communicate the essential curriculum for success in business. My teachers are consistently approachable and willing to discuss life’s challenges or provide academic assistance.
God is light
Northwestern has provided me with an education that has thoughtfully challenged and refined my theological understanding. The friendships I’ve cultivated here are characterized by a deep commitment to supporting one another’s faith journeys. The gift of the Lord’s joy has been a guiding force in my experiences here, and my involvement with the track and cross country teams provides a supportive environment that amplifies the light within me.
Return on investment
I would encourage prospective students to choose Northwestern for its strong sense of community, the quality of its education, and its welcoming small-town atmosphere. It is an especially valuable opportunity for individuals seeking to deepen their relationship with God, as I’ve engaged in numerous meaningful conversations focused on the impact of Christ in our lives.
