Advantage Northwestern
As Matilde began her college search, she knew she liked mathematics and wanted to keep playing tennis. She is drawn to using math to analyze information, solve problems and understand data, and she hopes to continue discovering how best to put her skills to work. The friendliness of Northwestern’s tennis coach and a generous scholarship helped convince her to become a Raider. She’s thriving here—earning Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete and all-conference honorable mention recognition in her first year.
The right formula
The data science + statistics major combines math, statistics and technology. I like that it can be applied to many different areas and that it prepares students to solve real-world problems using data.
Support adds up
The professors at Northwestern are very kind and open to any questions I have. They are always willing to help, which makes it easier to learn and feel comfortable asking questions. That is very important to me, especially as a student who is still adjusting and discovering my academic path.
A winning combination
Northwestern is helping prepare me for my future both academically and personally. My classes are helping me develop skills that I know will be important for my career, and being a student-athlete is teaching me discipline, responsibility and time management.
Beyond the court
Northwestern offers a community where students can grow in different areas of their lives. I have learned to be more independent, adapt to a new environment, and manage my responsibilities as both a student and an athlete. I have also met people who have supported me through this process.
