Heart for art
When Mackenzie visited Northwestern, she felt at home and knew it was the perfect place for her to grow academically and spiritually. She was drawn to the arts at a young age and has a passion for creating and working with her hands. “I’m excited to continue exploring the arts while diving into business courses to broaden my creative and professional skills,” she says. An aspiring business owner or art director, Mackenzie majors in creative industries—visual art and is involved in NWC’s Orchestra and string chamber ensemble.
Created to create
One of the most meaningful ways I worship the Lord is by using the gifts he has given me to bring new creations to life. I value how the creative industries major blends creativity with business, equipping students to thrive both artistically and professionally. Creativity and commerce are often seen as self-driven pursuits, but this program challenges me to see them as opportunities to serve others, inspire change and reflect the ultimate Creator.
Scholars + mentors
NWC faculty encourage thoughtful discussions that connect faith with art, challenging us to see how our work can honor God and uplift those around us. They don’t just teach—they come alongside their students, encouraging growth, creativity and a deeper understanding of their craft. Through their guidance, I’ve come to appreciate that true success is found not just in skill, but in a heart willing to serve with purpose and grace. The emphasis on personal growth, integrity and spiritual development makes Northwestern a place where students are encouraged to live with conviction and impact. That kind of foundation lasts far beyond any paycheck.
Building community
There’s something special about having real friendships—people who truly understand, support and pray for me. It’s refreshing to be surrounded by people who encourage growth and stand by me through both the good and the difficult times. The relationships I’ve made at NWC aren’t just temporary—they are meaningful, lasting and life-giving, shaping who I am and who I will become.
