Leading with purpose
As a child watching her parents coach high school sports, Faith developed a desire to one day become a high school athletic director. Her major in sport management leadership with a coaching endorsement gives her the tools to support athletes and coaches as they tackle challenges on and off the field. At Northwestern, practical skills team up with connections in the field to carry Faith’s lifelong love of sports into a meaningful career.Beyond the books
I have gained knowledge beyond what is offered in a textbook, which is especially important because preparing to be an athletic director depends heavily on hands-on learning. Northwestern helps prepare me through field experiences, internships and opportunities to learn from professionals in the sport industry.
Learning by doing
Many of my professors come from athletic director and coaching backgrounds, which helps me gain a realistic understanding of the profession. They often place us in real-life scenarios that challenge me to think critically and prepare me for the responsibilities I will face in my future career.
On the right track
I most appreciate the variety and intentionality of the sport management major. By having leadership, business and media marketing paths, students are able to fully pursue their specific career goals.
Relentlessly well-rounded
Through my time at Northwestern, I have grown in feeling equipped to handle my future career. I feel confident I will find a purpose-filled job, because I have not just been taught certain tasks, but also critical thinking, faith-based decision making, and the relational skills and connections necessary to lead and serve others well.
Champion disciples
The faith-based environment encourages students to grow not only academically, but also as leaders who are prepared to make thoughtful, purpose-driven decisions in their future careers. I appreciate the culture of continued spiritual growth, as it’s not just checking in and checking out but constantly seeking to encounter the Lord more deeply.
