Storyteller

For Alik McIlravy, business isn’t just about selling a product—it’s about using his gifts to serve others and glorify God. A marketing major with minors in public relations and entrepreneurship, Alik is combining creativity with strategy at Northwestern College as he prepares for a future in storytelling and global missions. A member of Northwestern’s cross country and track teams, Alik is also putting his skills to work right now—creating content and photography for Raider athletics and finding ways to help teams connect with their audiences.

Right-fit culture

I chose Northwestern because I wanted a place where I could express my faith openly and grow in it. I value smaller class sizes where professors know me by name, and I wanted to be part of a close-knit, Christ-centered community that would challenge me to grow academically, personally and spiritually.

Startup mindset

I have always wanted to start my own business, and I knew that a strong foundation in business would equip me with the tools I need to succeed.

Vision

After college, I plan to travel the world and film missionaries in action, capturing their stories and showing what it looks like to boldly follow Christ. I want to help people better understand and support global missions through storytelling and visual media. I want this to ultimately fuel a greater generosity to those who are actively proclaiming the good news.

Return on investment

Northwestern is shaping me into a well-rounded individual, giving me a strong foundation in both academics and character. Besides an education, I’ve gained a deep sense of purpose and clarity about my calling. Northwestern has helped me recognize my strengths and weaknesses so I can pursue the future God has planned for me with confidence. I’ve also gained a second family—people who truly love and support me, and who challenge me to grow in faith and character every day.
