Sioux county libraries to host author visit at Northwestern

All of the public and academic libraries in Sioux County are collaborating to host an author visit for the very first time.

On Thursday, Nov. 3, William Kent Krueger, author of the Cork O'Connor mystery series, will speak about his novel "Ordinary Grace." The two-part event will include “Appetizers with the Author” at 5:30 p.m. at the DeWitt Library on Northwestern College's campus. Tickets for this limited-attendance event are $10 and will be available for advanced purchase at participating libraries. The second part of the event, “A Conversation with William Kent Krueger,” will be held in Northwestern's Christ Chapel at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.

"Ordinary Grace," Krueger’s 2013 murder mystery, compellingly explores themes of tragedy, faith, grace and mercy. It received the Edgar Award given by the Mystery Writers of America in recognition for the best novel published in that year.

Krueger’s Cork O’Connor mysteries are set in the northwoods of Minnesota. Book number 15, "Manitou Canyon," was released earlier this month. Krueger’s works have received numerous awards, including the Minnesota Book Award, the Loft-McKnight Fiction Award, the Anthony Award, the Barry Award, the Dilys Award, and the Friends of American Writers Prize. His last six novels were all New York Times best-sellers.

Everyone in Sioux County is invited to read "Ordinary Grace," participate in book clubs, and attend the open presentation by Krueger on Nov. 3. Krueger will be making additional presentations at Northwest Iowa Community College, Northwestern College and Dordt College on Friday, Nov. 4.

Funding for this county-wide event was generously provided by the Sioux County Board of Supervisors and the participating libraries.
