Senior art exhibit on display at Old Factory

“Prairie Scene One,” painted by Ann Calsbeek on coffee bags, will be among the works displayed during her senior art exhibit Dec. 6 to 13 at the Old Factory Coffee Shop.
An exhibit of artwork by Ann Calsbeek, a senior art major at Northwestern College, will be on display in the Old Factory Coffee Shop in Orange City Dec. 6–13. An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Entitled “Re-Brewed,” the show reflects Calsbeek’s love of coffee, preference for creating art on mixed media, and commitment to recycling. Using travel coffee mugs, coffee sleeves, coffee bags, wood, sticks, coffee beans and other media, her art depicts scenes from her home state of Iowa. The exhibit will include paintings, ceramics, lithograph prints, digital photograph transfers, and a mural done in acrylic paint.

Calsbeek is the daughter of Doug and Janine Calsbeek of Orange City. In addition to art, she is majoring in Spanish and will be studying abroad in Spain during the spring semester.

The Old Factory Coffee Shop is located at 110 4th Street SW in Orange City. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
