Preview Days set for 2013-14

Northwestern College will host 11 Preview Days this school year to provide high school students with an introduction to the college. Preview Days are open to high school juniors and seniors and their parents, and are an excellent first step for students beginning their college search. The events will be held on Oct. 4, Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 18, Dec. 6, Jan. 24, Feb. 24, March 14 and April 4.

Preview Days begin with registration at 8 a.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. Students and their parents have the opportunity to attend chapel, tour the campus, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and experience student and academic life. They will also be able to learn about specific academic programs, financial aid, student services, campus ministries and co-curricular activities. Individual appointments with coaches and professors will be available. Students have the option of staying in a dorm the night before a Preview Day.

The Preview Day on Nov. 1 will be a Departmental Showcase at which students can experience a more in-depth visit with a particular academic department of their choosing.  The morning will consist of several activities similar to other Preview Days, but the afternoon will be devoted to academic departments.

“We love hosting high school students on campus so they can experience the Northwestern College community firsthand,” says Laura De Boer, Northwestern’s campus visit coordinator. “Our hope is that when students visit our campus, they not only gain information about Northwestern, but that they can picture themselves as students here, and that we can help alleviate some of their anxieties about finding a college.”

Students who can’t visit on a Preview Day are encouraged to set up an individual visit any weekday. For more information about a personalized campus visit or Preview Days, contact Laura De Boer in the admissions office by calling 800-747-4757 or e-mailing visit@nwciowa.edu.

In addition, the admissions office offers some special interest preview days for select academic departments and athletic teams; see www.nwciowa.edu/visit for more information.
