Northwestern wins PR awards

Northwestern College’s public relations office has won two awards in the 2011 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Six awards competition.

A series of new publications for Northwestern’s admissions office won a silver award in the Excellence in Communication: Student Recruitment Series category. Other institutions winning in that category included Nebraska Wesleyan University, gold, and University of Central Missouri, bronze.

The publications included a viewbook, search piece and college fair piece developed by Northwestern in partnership with Stamats Communications of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, last summer. The series also included postcards, posters, and brochures for academics, athletics, campus life, faith, financial aid, the fine arts and graduate success, produced by the public relations office with assistance from freelance designers.

Northwestern’s mobile site,, received a bronze award in the Excellence in Multimedia: Website category. The mobile site, launched last summer under the leadership of Web Development Manager Dan Robinson, enables constituents to access the latest Northwestern news and sports scores, event calendars, a campus directory, facility hours, directions to campus and much more via smartphones. Other institutions winning in the Web category were University of Kansas, gold, and Missouri State University, silver.

Council for Advancement and Support of Education is an association for professionals who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and allied areas at educational institutions. District Six includes colleges, universities and independent schools in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
