Northwestern College presents RUSH

RUSH, Northwestern College’s popular student dance concert, will take the England Theatre stage at the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center for six performances: Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., Feb. 3 at 7 and 9:30 p.m., and Feb. 4 at 4, 7 and 9:30 p.m.

Around 220 students will perform 16 dances, including contemporary, gypsy-style, hip-hop, lyrical and steam punk. All the dances feature original choreography by Northwestern students who then audition their peers. The student dancers represent all areas of campus, including artists and athletes, students who’ve had musical or movement training, and those who have no experience performing for an audience.

RUSH 2012 will also include performances by students who participated in Northwestern’s Romania Semester last fall, Dordt College’s salsa team, and the student group that won Northwestern’s Best Dance Crew in October.

The student producer for RUSH is senior Daniel Sikkema, Hospers. Members of his production team are sophomore Jack Nickolay, assistant producer; Amber Amundson, artistic director; and Amalia Vasquez, stage manager.

“We’re excited for community members to see the artistic talent of our students,” said Vasquez.

RUSH ticket requests must be made via email at boxoffice@nwciowa.edu. Tickets are available to Theatre Patrons after 4 p.m. on Jan. 23 and the general public after 4 p.m. on Jan. 24. Requests are limited to six tickets per person. The cost for RUSH is $1, payable at the door.
